Daft Punk - Face to Face
the problem with Daft Punk is that pretty much everyone is already innately familiar with their music, so talking about how good it is sort of feels like an exercise in pointing out the obvious, I guess
BUT STILL, MAN, THIS SONG. WHY IS A SONG THIS GOOD AT THE BACK OF THE ALBUM? I’M NOT BEING FACETIOUS HERE, THIS MIGHT BE MY FAVE OFF DISCOVERY. dang good song.
I think its position in the album is totally warranted, literally leaving the best of the album until last.
Production-wise, there’s some brilliant sampling throughout the track too. Particularly great use of ELO’s Evil Woman, it takes a sharp ear to catch the samples.
so it’s REALLY from Evil Woman? I always thought it SOUNDED a lot like the same riff and was probably meant to suggest it, but I didn’t know it was straight-up sampled from there.
ELO is like one of my OTHER favorite music outfits besides Daft Punk, this is really cool!
